GRMC Lung and Infectious Disease (GLID) Center was established in 2022 as Guam's hybrid Specialty Center to address the island's need for comprehensive Respiratory and Infectious Disease care
Lung Center
The GRMC Lung Center aims to create a comprehensive lung health service for Guam and Micronesia. The Center offers services that range from Pulmonary function test, Cardio-Pulmonary exercise test, 6-minute walk test, methacholine challenge, in-dwelling pleural catheter placement and management, thoracentesis, asthma biologics treatment, bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). The Center diagnoses, treats and manages asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis, Lung mass / nodule, Occupational respiratory diseases, Pulmonary Hypertension, Pleural diseases, Interstitial lung disease / Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Infectious Disease Center
The GRMC Infectious Disease Center aims to address the wide range infectious disease pathology of the island and region. The Center also runs an Out-Patient Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) program. The Center diagnoses, treats and manages acute and chronic infectious diseases that range from Tuberculous and non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria, infections in the immunocompromised host, HIV / AIDS, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C as well as sexually transmitted disease.
Pulmonary Laboratory
GLID has a state-of-the-art Pulmonary Laboratory that performs complex respiratory diagnostics including PFT, CPET, Bronchoprovocation test and FENO. The pulmonary laboratory partners with GRMC Pulmonary Rehab for pre and post rehabilitation assessment. The lab also manages our Bronchiectasis Airway Clearance Clinic.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Together with Ann Cruz (Rehab Manager), the Rehab Team received certification for Pulmonary Rehabilitation with the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). Dr. Agustin and the team established Guam’s first Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit at GRMC in October 2020.
